Nice bird cut! Seein some hooks around the net lately too! If you guys down south got the weights we do up here or in the mid west, those birds would be scary!! Just goes to show how a long breeding season will bring down the weight of a bird. A month ago, he'd probably go 2 pounds heavier or more.

Finally was able to contribute! Never thought I would say that 9 1/2 inches was small 8-) I lightly yelped to a roosted gobbln tom who responded whole heartedly. I was set up at the end of a finger that came out into a small green wheat field. The field was surrounded by woods to the south, the river and a small patch of woods surrounded the old farmstead to the north and west. He was roosted behind an old 2 story farm house about a 150 yards west of me. He flew down into an old orchard and let the morning know where he was! My buddy yelped and purred one time, and he didn't waste any time making a beeline to our Avian X feeder hen. I smoked him at 30 yards with a load of 3" #6's through an Indian Creek choke tube. I think he is a candidate for the Jelly Head award.

We got out of our truck at 4:45am and I had that turkey down at 5:30am. It was a beautiful spring morning, and a hunt I will never forget. I wish everyone great success and enjoy this spring while it lasts. Its going fast.

Stats:

19 lbs
9 1/2 inch beard
7/8, 3/4 inch spurs
Total pts= 46.375 OOOPS...It looks like I cheated our team out of some points. When I used the NWTF calculator I came up with 54.25 pointsImage

Please use the table below to convert 1/8 and 1/16 measurements into inches for spur and beard length. To download an official NWTF Wild Turkey Score Sheet, please click here.

Turkey's weight: 19lbs. oz.

Spur length Right: .8750 in. Left: .7500 in.

Beard length 9.5 in.

Your score is 19 + 8.75 + 7.5 + 19 = 54.25

I want to thank all my teammates. We had a good mix of young bloods and old timers. Kudos go out to Livingthedream for bagging 2 Toms and the highest Team 6 point total at 65.4375. A close second was Cuts' 61.125 bird. He also bagged two birds. M S Turkey Hunter bagged 3 birds this spring and contributed a 58 pointer to the cause. Bringing up the rear was Mekillini with a 54.25 pointer and Take em 21 with a 52.625 bird.

Unless there is some last minute entries, it appears that we are the only team that all members bagged a bird. Congratulations. My unofficial results are:

Team 1...2 birds at 145.0625

Team 2...1 bird at 67.51

Team 3...1 bird at 63.8789

Team 4...2 birds at 141.1225

Team 5...2 birds at 104.38

Team 6...5 birds at 291.437
