Depending on terrain limited roosting areas makes birds predictable, but be prepared to deal with large flocks.. A Rio loves to hear themselves gobble and can provide a ton of falsehope.. They call um Ramblin Rios, because they will leave the roost and go for miles sometimes only to return that evening.. With that being said their rambling nature can leave one roost full and dead the next morning depending on terrain and number of suitable roost areas.. They gobble like crazy in the evening to locator calls..
I will say IMO a good Rio is hard to beat.. When you catch one right it is how god intended a turkey hunt to be.
"Guys today don't know what real turkey hunting is. They don't really carry on a conversation with the turkeys. They just sit in a blind and wait for the birds to come to them. It's a shame."- Denny Gulvas
