Who's a member of the NWTF?

There was a banquet in ND where the treasurer ran off with all the money...the chapter folded soon after. I hope they catch the guy.

Wow! Not cool! Hope he gets what's comming to him! The guys in our chapter are all about the birds and the hunters, not the money. Do it for the love of the sport first. That's a shame.

Talkin the NWTF, turning the page from being a member, money only to being a volunteer, have a local chapter selected to join forces with and hope to spend time "giving back".....
I've been active in a couple waterfowl orgs. helping out in youth hunts, handicap hunts and the likes, all good it's certainly better to give thn receive, that's for sure!
My question to you guys, those members of NWTF is what does your chapter do, how does it help the sport and your community? More importantly, how has it helped YOU?
Side note, anyone ever go/been to the NWTF national conv????

I have been to a couple of those banquets and it seems it's more like a money racquet to me. You spend hundreds of dollars and walk out with nothing because you can't compete with the guy that just dropped $5000. I know the NWTF has done great things for the wild turkey population so their not all bad but dang.

Yes I have gone the past 3 years to work the booth, I have decided not to attend this year.. The first year you go and walk in the convention Hall, Its turkey overload.. More calls, camo, decoys, guns, ammo than you knew existed. The first year is truly incredible.. But once you have seen the "stuff" a couple times it gets kinda boring.. I would work the booth and scoot out..

The one thing I will miss is seeing my network of friends from all over the country.. It is the one time that I get to see these guys.. As for the dinners and concerts and such the NWTF hosts, you better have a thick pocketbook.. Most nights find 20-30 of us jammed in a hotel room tipping back tons of beers, running calls and having the front desk called on us. Usually one or two nights we head to the Fuze which is a night club in the opry.. Its hilarious as this up scale night club is filled with camo shirts and hats.. It was hilarious as the dolled up locals arrived and found their bar invaded by thousands of rednecks..

A member until 2013, then I will re-up again. Went to the convention this year and last, will go again. I like it, but YOU WILL leave with your ears ringing. If you dont want to see any calling contests or seminars, Sunday is the day to go, less people and can get some deals from the guys not wanting to take the product home. If you go on Sunday, get there when the doors open, as the vendors start packing up 30 minutes to 1 hour before the doors close.

This is the first year in quite a few that I am not taking a youth out for youth season. I have to be in Ind. that weekend. :(
