As a website....what can we do?

Postby cut_un » Thu May 17, 2012 6:49 am

Just thinkin here..... Being a fairly young website,as compaired to our sister websites ..plus "those others" that have lasted for many years!
So far ,so good, with our fist ever turkey hunting contest,a contest where looking like all teams kicked some turkey butt this year. Along with the contest ,we also sent a fine box call and a slate call, both made/donated by two of our own here on THC. Both made it around the country, spend many mornings in the hands of our members, sharing their story in an pics& handwritten journals. Both calls saw success also, Not sure but I think several big ol easterns fell to the sweet turkey talk of the calls...Good stuff!
Just wondering what we can do to continue the upward climb, we had said early on that the plan was to be "the place to be" for all those sportsmen that enjoy spending a day in the turkey woods, member & sponsor alike!
Ideas, thoughts and discussions are always welcomed! What say you?

Been kicking around the idea of...don't know if we could or not????
Turkey camp '13
If we could find a spot/public or private, schedule a time of the season that would work for our membership, wecould plan for a THC "get together" Just thinkin :D Can be as small or as big as we'd like to make it......What say you?

I have often wondered what will happen to this site when the season is over. Typically traffic slows way down when the season is over. Being that this site is dedicated to turkeys, and the season is short, how is this site going to survive through the rest of the year?

Hope we don't let it wither up and die..... It does not have to be "turkeys only".... We can get together and talk about other shooting sports too...I'd think

I've wondered about this too. The "sister sites" have enough people on there to keep it interesting even in the off season. Hopefully the same happens here.

The site is growing pretty fast though I'd say. I've seen forums around for longer than this and they still don't have this many active members.

It's like anything else. Duck hunting season is over yet people are still active, goose season is over yet people still frequent the fourm, so like mentioned if you like it here you don't have to stop coming because turkey season is over. For all hardcore hunters turkey, duck, goose, and deer season never stops. I am always improving on my calling techniques, buying new decoys, blinds, and gear. I could spend the entire summer just talking about that stuff.

So like Cut said it's all up to the members to stick around the off season. I can add duck hunting, goose hunting or deer hunting topics if that helps. Fishing as well. Whatever you guys want.

I think we have a hardcore group of waterfowlers here..maybe a waterfowlers forum... we can simply talk Fowl, does not have to be seperate duck & goose forums...I guess (trying to keep it simple)..... A fishing forum may help too, maybe salt & fresh water. May cause a few to check in and talk"the talk"... I do hope/think we have established a good group of friends on there this turkey season, know I have! , hope it continues, maybe to the point where, in the future, we get together and hunt/fish together! Just saying..... I know ,I'll be stopping by!

Ill keep her going. Each week I will post up my thoughts on a controversial turkey hunting topic: Blinds, Decoys, Roost shooting, long shots, Fanning etc And than argue with everyone whom disagrees with my thoughts.. :D

Don't forget about fall season as we can always discuss that topic. :D

Really not sure that I can help, however season really never ends for me as I will be around. I just bought some shells that were on sale, looking for a choke for my new 870 and trying to figure out some strategies for some new land. I am already looking forward to next season.
